Member of the group Ritmos Cabo-Verdianos, Tony Marques, just like his brother Lulu, was a telegraph operator, employed by Italcable. Immigrated to the USA in the 1960s. Returned and came back again, living in New York since then, where he worked until his retirement at a Portuguese entity linked to tourism.
Chico Serra, as a child, spent hours watching him play at the Grémio club (Cabo Verde & a Música – Dicionário de Personagens). Among his compositions is the well-known koladera “Intentaçon de Carnaval”.
