Group

2018

Terreru Music emerged in 2018 as a collective creative group in Cabo Verdean music scene. Their work goes beyond songwriting, playing, and singing, as they aim to reflect on current challenges and act constructively in the fields of education and culture. They do not limit themselves to established musical genres within the Cabo Verdean music scene, embracing formal freedom as part of their sound proposal.

Its members are Jacinto Fernandes (producer and creative art manager), Calu di Guida (vocals and guitar), Maruka Tavares (vocals and guitar), Djinho Barbosa (Vocals, guitar, bass and keyboard), and Djoy Amado (vocals and guitar).

In 2021, the group released TestaSon, an album in homage to Kaká Barbosa, and in 2022, with RefleSon, they highlighted the figure of Carlos Alberto Martins – Catchás, showing their respect for the memory of the people who inspire their musical work.

In 2024, the year marking the centennial of Amílcar Cabral, Terreru presented the EP Alerta – Cabral ka Mori.

The song “Cabral ka Mori” is a poem by Emanuel Braga Tavares, set to music by Maruka Tavares and Djinho Barbosa and featuring Khyra Tavares, the poet’s daughter.
