Djim Job

Jorge Alberto Job
Mindelo, São Vicente, 1964
Instrumentalist (guitar, bass), songwriter, singer, musical producer
Djim Djob is frequently present as a songwriter in the repertoires of Cape Verdean artists who began recording in the late 1990s, but also in the work of veteran Bana for whom he produced two albums.
He was the music producer of the CD Dia e Noite by Biús, which was considered the best African album of 1999 by music critics in Portugal. Several of his songs are part of Biús’ repertoire. He co-produced with Toy Vieira the album Segred, by Nancy Vieira, in addition to having songs of his own on the album.
In partnership with Kalú Monteiro he has several songs recorded by different performers, including Djosinha, Dina Medina, Belinda and Maria de Barros. For the latter the two musicians composed much of what the singer recorded on her first album, Nha mundo, having both participated in the recordings and tours to promote the album. Also in partnership with Kalú Monteiro, he worked in the musical production and arrangements of the album Caldeira Preta (2010), by Mirri Lobo. He plays bass on several Mendes Brothers albums.
In addition to composing in various musical genres, Djim Job has a special interest in reggae. As a solo artist, he recorded a work in the mid 1990s, Novo Dia, and a second in 2016, Amor e Música, in which he appears as a singer performing songs of his authorship.
Between the 1980s and the 1990s, like his brother Roy Job, participated in the group Jamm Band. Djim Job is the son of the guitar player Jorge Job. The family moved to the United States in the 1970s, where Djim Job has lived since then.
