Group, 2000

Formed in 2000 in Brockton, Afrika Rainbow is a reggae group whose lyrics focus on Africa and, in particular, on the experiences of African people in the Unites States, according to the website of the Festival Itinerante de Música Alternativa (FIMA) (http://fima.blogs.sapo.cv/506.html), held in 2012 in Cabo Verde, in which the group participated.

Its members are Baluka, Santus, Staku, and  Val, all from Santiago all living in the United States since the 1990s, as well as Tommy, who was born in the United States.

The group was nominated for the Cabo Verde Music Awards in the Best Reggae/R&B category in 2012 and for Best Live Band in 2013. In 2015, they were nominated for the International Portuguese Music Awards.
