Singer 

Daughter of parents from Mindelo, born in the US, as a child she was amazed by Michael and Janet Jackson’s dance moves. At the age of 12 she began singing in the youth choir of the Baptist church she attended, becoming a soloist.

After debuting in the studio as one of the many voices on the album Paz, amor e união, produced by Paulino Vieira in 1984, she joins the Jamm Band (with whom she performs at several festivals in Cape Verde), collaborates with Tropical Power by Norberto Tavares and performs choirs on recordings by various artists, until publishing her first solo work in 1998. In between, she wins several beauty contests – she was Miss Photogenic of Rhode Island – worked as a model and actress and became a social worker. Besides gospel, which was her musical initiation, she was inspired by Witney Houston and other soul names.  

In 2006, focusing on spirituality and seeking a peaceful place to live and raise her children, Belinda moved with her husband to S. Vicente, where she runs a music school on the premises of the Academia Jotamonte. She later returned to the USA and her musical activities are solely linked to the church she attends.
