The saxophonist Michael “Tunes” Antunes started his professional career in 1960 and is still active, having passed his 80th birthday. 

He participated in the John Cafferty & The Beaver Brown Band, which was responsible for the soundtrack of the movie Eddie and The Cruisers (1982). 

Michael Antunes was the only member of the group to appear in the movie, playing the role of a saxophonist. In 1989, Eddie and the Cruisers II: Eddie Lives! was released, with the musician of Cape Verdean origin playing the same character (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Michael_Antunes).

The book A Salute to Cape Verdean Musicians and Their Music (Ron Barboza, 1989), mentions that his family has a long history linked to Cape Verdean music.
